His charismatic energy, comedic personality and distinctive voice easily command full attention. Ray Dyer, better knows as Big Ray, grew up in the boogie Down Bronx and found his passion for entertainment at an early age.As a student at St. Nicholas Tolentine High School, Big Ray captivated his peers as a young DJ rocking the turntables.
With a mic in his hand he soon knew he had walked into his destiny and went full force making a hobby into a career.
After attending college in Manhattan he began working with Wu-Tang, Motown Record and countless artists. This led a perfect transition to radio. Big Ray began co-hosting the morning drive on Albany NY's flagship station FLY 92 (WFLY). As his popularity grew he was booked for guest host appearances at local nightclubs and sporting events. He especially enjoyed hosting the Harlem Globetrotters.In 2001 WFLY's sister station JAMZ 96.3 (WAJZ) believed in his ability to transcend the airwaves and the Big Ray Morning Show was born. Alongside his co-hosts the show quickly rose to the #1 spot-a first for a hip hop morning show in the Upstate market.Besides being the voice of Hip Hop, Big Ray quickly became part of the fabric of the Capital Region. He used his platform to give back to the community, raising awareness about key issues.
Whether acting as a mentor with the Boys & Girls Club, collaborating with Equinox to assist victims of domestic violence or spotlighting local talent with the Roc The Mic showcase, he became not only a friend to many,
but a driving force in making progressive change.
Big Ray has opened the stage for national comedy acts such as Chelsea Handler, Mike Epps, Bill Bellamy, Kevin Hart and the Bad Boys Of Comedy. He been featured at the world famous Uptown Comedy corner in Atlanta, GA, as well as The Palace Theater and The Egg Performing Arts Center, Albany NY's largest stages.
Big Ray has shared the stage with many major music artists such as Biz Markie, Busta Rhymes,Wu Tang, Lil Kim, NeYo and many more. Shortly after relocating to Atlanta late 2009, he became one of the areas most requested hosts. He was nominated in 2010, 2011, 2012 and in 2013 was awarded Atlanta's Hottest Host.He is currently the resident host at Vanquish Lounge and an On Air Personality for
The Peoples Station, V103 (WVEE).
Big Ray is also founder of the Nonprofit Foundation, Marian's Heart.
